9/29 Gold Star Family Day

September 29, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

WINDOW ROCK, AZ – The third annual Navajo Nation Gold Star Mothers and Family day will be on September 29, 2019 at Window Rock Veteran’s Memorial Park, starting 6pm – 8pm.

In 2017, the Navajo Nation President proclaimed the last Sunday in the month of September as Navajo Nation Gold Star Mother’s Day. The Navajo Hopi Honor Riders, non-profit organization, worked together with Army veteran, Arizona State Rep. Jamescita Peshlakai to make this proclamation possible through the Office of the President and Vice President.

The public is welcome to join in the special day, as the Navajo Hopi Honor Riders will begin with a motorcycle escort from Quality Inn to the Window Rock Veteran’s Memorial Park. The program will include the proclamation reading by the Office of the President and Vice President, memorial roll call, the laying of a wreath, special appearance by newly crowned Miss Navajo Nation Shaandiin Parrish, and concluding with a candlelight vigil.

Throughout the United States, communities will come together to light luminaries, to remember their veteran this Sunday. National Gold Star Mother’s Day has been observed since World War I.

Brought to you by Office of the President and Vice President and Navajo Hopi Honor Riders.
