Allen Thomas served in the U.S. Army between April 16,1963 – March 29, 1966 in which he was honorably discharged. He resided in Blue Canyon, Arizona for the greater part of his life. During his life, he had several different occupations that included, working as a Navajo Nation Police officer, a miner at Kerr-McGee mine, and a custodian at Ft. Defiance Indian Hospital and Window Rock School District.
He left behind 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Of his 16 grandchildren, one has followed in his footsteps in joining both the U.S. Army and becoming a Navajo Nation Police officer. Another has joined the U.S. Army.
