(bikers note: road from church to burial site is 10 miles of dirt road\, see map attached)\nROUTE:  Shiprock to Lukachukai: South on Hwy 491 to Rte 13 stay on Rte 13 to Lukachukai. Lukachukai to Tsaile intersection: Rte 13 to Rte 12\, stay on Rte 12 to Tsaile Store. Tsaile intersection to Dine’ College Circle Dr.\, Ind Rte 64 to College turn off to College Circle Drive.    \nBenjamin was born and raised in Canyon De Chelly and Black Rock area. He went to Intermountain Indian School in Salt Lake City\, Utah. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1959 He was Honorably Discharged in 1962. He was a very proud and honorable veteran. He lived in Los Angeles\, California for over 40 years\, retiring from the ITT Aerospace Control center. He was known by his family as the “LA Man”. He moved back to Farmington\, NM and his homeland at Black Rock 3 years ago. He loved being among his Kinyaa’aanii family of Black Rock and Canyon De Chelly. His interests included watching the LA Dodgers on TV and NFL Football. He was a very generous and loving dad\, brother\, uncle and grandfather (Chei & Nali). He served aboard the U.S.S. Laws DD558 and was a Machinist Mate 3rd Class with several earned accolades\, including: Korean Service Medal (2 Stars)\, United Nations Service Medal\, China Service Medal\, Korean Presidential Unit Citation\, National Defense Service Medal\, and more! He is survived by his four children and their spouses: Cathy and her husband\, Harvey; Paul and his wife\, DIana; Michael and his wife\, JoAnn; Gabriel and his wife\, Cleo. In addition\, he is survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. \n\nPlease join us in honoring a beloved father\, grandfather\, brother\, and friend to his final resting place where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife\, Geraldine. After service\, east on Hwy 64 to Lukachukai Community Cemetery. (101 miles\, see map attached) \n \nJohn Kinsel Sr was 107 years old\, he was from Lukachukai\, Az\, he was a loving husband\, father\, grandfather\, great-grandfather.  He began his education at six years old at Ft. Defiance Boarding school\, he graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in Santa Fe\, NM.  Kinsel was Kinłichíi’nii and born for Tábąąhá\, he died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning\, October 19\, 2024. He was one of the Navajo Code Talkers who served in the Pacific Theater during WWII\, he served from 1942 to 1946. When he returned home\, he built a home for his family and raised them in Lukachukai.  He spoke Navajo all his life\, his community loved him.
