He was honorably discharged in 1975. Paul remained quite active in the military community after his discharge. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 112 and the Leupp Veterans Organization. He was always so eager to help with color guards\, parades and casket watch for fellow fallen comrades.\nPaul has two children; Paulina Thompson and the late Chad Thompson. He was one of the Navajo Code Talkers who served in the Pacific Theater during WWII\, he served from 1942 to 1946. When he returned home\, he built a home for his family and raised them in Lukachukai. He spoke Navajo all his life\, his community loved him. He lived in Los Angeles\, California for over 40 years\, retiring from the ITT Aerospace Control center. He was known by his family as the “LA Man”. He moved back to Farmington\, NM and his homeland at Black Rock 3 years ago. He loved being among his Kinyaa’aanii family of Black Rock and Canyon De Chelly. His interests included watching the LA Dodgers on TV and NFL Football. He was a very generous and loving dad\, brother\, uncle and grandfather (Chei & Nali). He was also a basketball coach for many years during his employment. He was survived by his wife Louise Gould\, his son Jeffery\, daughters Rhonda and Serafina and was preceded by his son Randall. His nalí is Tł’ízí lání (Many Goats); cheii is Naakai dine’é (Mexican). He passed away Feb. 7\, 2024\, in Hunters Point. \nLeonard graduated from Manzano High School in Albuquerque and served in the U.S. Army for 13 years and 4 months. He was an Afghanistan Veteran who was injured by RoadSide Bomb in 2007 and a Purple Heart Recipient. Leonard served in 82nd Airborne and also the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was a foodie who enjoyed cooking\, fishing\, biking\, and spending time with his children. \nLeonard is survived by his sons\, Alejandro Day and Michael Day; daughters\, Esperanza Day and Isabella Day; parents\, Antoinette and Leonard Day Sr.; brother\, Dillon Day; and sisters\, Rosemary Cook\, Rachelle Roberts\, Patricia Day\, Maria Day\, and Melinda Day Wheeler. \nLeonard is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents\, Dillon and Rose Platero; paternal grandparents\, Alice Williams and Charlie Day; and three uncles and two aunts. Pallbearers will be members of the honor guard. \nA potluck reception will take place at the Gallup Lions Club (3330 E.
