Begay was a Vietnam War Veteran serving from December 1966 to December 1970\, a Purple Heart Recipient and a former Community Development Official of the Forest Lake Chapter.\nHe was born of the Tse deshgizhnii clan\, and born for Nakai dine’e clan.
