DESCRIPTION:GALLUP\, NM – The family of USMC LCPL Guy Bitsilly Jr. is requesting a funeral escort on Friday February 19\, 2021. \nSTAGING: 8:30am Rollies Mortuary\, Gallup\, NM\nKSU: 9:00 am\nDESTINATION: Houck Veterans Cemetery\, Houck Az.\nROUTE: west on I-40 for 35 miles\, exit 348 St. Anslem Houck\, AZ \nGravesite service will be conducted for immediate family only. Thereafter\, visitors may pay their respect immediately following services will be conducted in accordance with CDC and Navajo Nation Covid-19 guidelines to protect friends and family. Thank you for understanding and cooperating. \nUSMC LCPL Guy Bitsilly Jr. or “JR” as he was known to his family and friends\, survived by his daughters\, Deirdre L. Bitsilly of Querino Canyon\, AZ\, Desiree L. Bitsilly of San tan Valley. AZ\, and son\, Randall Keedah of Gallup\, NM\, grandchildren\, Jaden\, Madison\, and Chase Smith. \nJR was born of the Water’s Edge People (Tabaaha) and for The Tower House People (Kinyaa’áanii) on July 15\, 1947\, the oldest son of Guy Bitsilly Sr. (deceased) and Dorothy Bitsilly. He was raised in Tohatchi\, NM. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps\, serving in the Vietnam War as a member of the 3rd Marine Division. \nHe was always active and engaged in the community in both sporting and civic events. He participated in the Senior Olympics in Alabama\, Nevada\, and Albuquerque\, NM competing in track and field events\, as well as shuffleboard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing\, watching high school basketball games\, and traveling. He was an active participant in Gourd dancing at many Powwows across the US including Gathering of Nations Pow Wow. If there was a Powwow or Song & Dance in his community including local Navajo fairs\, you were sure to see JR there along with his trusted red jeep. As a proud veteran\, he was active in securing a location for a veteran’s cemetery in Houck\, AZ\, which will be his final resting place. \nOn behalf of the Navajo Hopi Honor Riders\, we send our condolences and prayers to the family of USMC LCPL Guy Bitsilly Jr. We thank you for your service\, you will never be forgotten. Thank you for understanding and cooperating. \nUS Army veteran John Joe Jr. was a WWII veteran\, he served his country proudly from June 23\, 1944 to February 18\, 1946. He was a rifleman in the 77th Infantry. He worked with a portable flamethrower\, an automatic rifle squad and .30 caliber rifle squad.
