GREASEWWOOD SPRINGS, AZ – “THANK YOU Navajo and Hopi Honor Riders for all you do. This morning, NHHR donated potatoes and veggies to a Vietnam combat Vet that was nominated by Jerilene Salabiye. They also provided an escort to my home community of Greasewood Springs, AZ., and they accepted our invitation for coffee, water and refreshments. Always good to see Michelle West and awesome to meet Lori Lee and everyone. Good brother Doug looking great. They also met my brother in law Vietnam Vet Louie Long, shook hands, welcomed him home and shared a few stories. A great day indeed.” – Mike Salabiye 11/18/17
Each year “Running Strong, for American Indian Youth” gives over 1,500 turkeys to help Native Families to have a warm holiday meal. This year, NHHR, Inc is pleased to announce that we were able to help assist with delivering some of these turkeys across Navajo Land. On behalf on the Navajo Hopi Honor Riders we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation during this time of giving to: F.R.A.M.E Initiative (Empowering Families of Veterans and First Responders), Dine Hooghan Bii Development and to NHHR Honor Riders for stepping forward in a matter of minutes to help deliver turkeys to those in need, especially to our Veterans and our Elders. With your help our families will enjoy a turkey as they give thanks with their families. We continue to encourage you all to support our Military Families, we appreciate the strong sense of volunteerism you provide for our Veterans past and present. Your efforts never go unnoticed. Thank you!
We would like to especially thank Billy Mills with ‘Running Strong Foundation’. Billy Mills, Oglala Lakota, a National Spokesperson Olympic Gold Medalist. The Running Strong’s mission is to help American Indian people meet their immediate survival needs – food, water, and shelter – while implementing and supporting programs designed to create opportunities for self-sufficiency and self-esteem. Thank you Running Strong Foundation for your contribution of time and energy toward making our Organizations Turkey Ride a success. It’s only with committed volunteers like you that we can organize to help those in need during this holiday season. Our families will greatly benefit from your kind contribution and enjoy a meal together. Thank you for being an inspiration to many of our Native families across Indian Country. We hope one day you can join us at any of our events or on our Honor Rides.
Thank you again, Respectfully, NHHR
Special Note: Honor Riders, if you could please submit any photos taken of your delivery we would greatly appreciate it. You may send to us here via Facebook messenger or send to our email @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Sometimes you have to go the extra mile. Delivered a turkey, stuffing, potatoes and coffee to Code Talker Al Newman Sr and his wife Betsy, he is 93 and she is 88, she still drives him around unbelievable. I found them at their cabin deep in the Chuska mountains 12.9 miles where we left the pavement. Al Newman did his service during WWII 1943-1946, 3rd Marine Division, 21st Marines, 1st Battalion. Thank You Running Strong Foundation and NHHR. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. PS….7 Code Talkers are from Crystal.” Navajo Hopi Honor Rider, Doug.
